- At the Messe München (Munich exhibition center) the group of companies presents solutions for the energy revolution and for industry 4.0.
The Intersolar Europe is the world’s leading trade show for photovoltaics and energy storage systems. From June 22 – 24 the SCHMID Group presented its latest process and equipment technologies there and celebrated the world premiere of its new transport system at the automation fair Automatica taking place at the same time.
At the Intersolar Europe 40,000 visitors from all parts of the world get informed about the latest trends in the solar industry every year. As in previous years the exhibition stand of the SCHMID Group was highly frequented. Being the technology leader the SCHMID Group supplies highly efficient systems for the entire value chain of photovoltaics.
A main topic of conversation were bifacial solar cells for the production of which SCHMID has developed several systems in recent years. This cell type that absorbs light and generates electricity on both surfaces, achieves up to 30% higher yield than conventional cells, if suitably installed in open areas or flat roots. For its bifacial module the Korean company LG was granted the Intersolar Award 2016. A great appreciation – also for SCHMID. For its production LG counts on systems of the company from Freudenstadt.
In the industry SCHMID is classified as problem solver. The innovation driver has also developed a solution for the efficient storage of electricity from renewable sources: energy storage based on Vanadium Redox Flow Technology that allows to flexibly scale capacity and performance. Both the storage units for home applications and for industrial and commercial use created a strong interest.
In parallel with the Intersolar the Automatica takes place at the Messe München every two years. At the leading trade show for Industrial Automation SCHMID for the first time introduced its intelligent transport system montrac® Industrial Shuttle 200, which links production, assembly and logistics processes and which is designed for payloads up to 200 kg.
Sven Worm, Head of the Business Unit Automation at SCHMID: “With more than 1,500 successful installations worldwide we have been automating processes since 1996 in the most different industries with loads up to max. 50 kg. The new development of the Industrial Shuttle 200 allows us to benefit of the numerous advantages of the monorail system montrac® – now with loads that are 4 times higher than before. A revolution on the intralogistics market!”
The transport system is being developed and manufactured at the sites in Gerlafingen (Switzerland) and Niedereschach (Baar region of the Black Forest, Germany) and sold to a wide variety of industries all over the world.
BMW is a SCHMID customer and has provided a motorcycle for the trade show appearance, symbolizing the characteristics of the transport system montrac®: To bring goods to their destination quickly and safely.
